So, some astute people have asked overhanging the property line. Others have not and just went ahead and did it. Well, here is the skinny from the SF Planning code. You must conform to the code.
As a side note keep in mind that SF clearly allows conditioned space to do this, just to promote the bay window tradition. In most cities the proerty line is fairly inviolate. With these rules, you will clearly not be able to project anymore than 3'-0" maximum.
